Legal vs. Technical

First, understand your need. Do you need a Gap Analysis (legal/process focus) or a Conformity Assessment (technical focus)?

  • Legal Firms: Best for interpreting Article interpretations, liability, and contracts.
  • Technical Consultancies: Best for model testing, bias mitigation, and cybersecurity robustness.

Checklist for Selection

  1. Sector Experience: Have they worked in your vertical (Health, Finance, HR)? Context matters.
  2. Tooling: Do they use automated testing tools for bias and robustness, or is it just a paper checklist?
  3. Certifications: Look for ISO 42001 (AI Management Systems) expertise.
  4. Independence: If they built your model, they shouldn't audit it.
